The transformation of this historic three-acre Westchester property began with a simple objective: to create a landscape that would feel inseparable from the architecture and evolve naturally over time. Known as Seven Pines for its distinguished garden history and mature specimen trees, the property had been fragmented by years of neglect. The expansion of the residence presented an opportunity to reconnect the house and its new interior spaces with the gardens and mature landscape beyond. Majestic pines, oaks, and honey locusts became defining features of the renewed landscape. A redesigned arrival, tree-lined walks, garden paths, and a series of outdoor rooms create a natural progression through the property. Conceived as extensions of the home, each garden responds to views, light, scale, materials, and seasonal change while offering distinct places for gathering, recreation, and retreat. Layered planting, gentle changes in topography, and carefully framed views create privacy, discovery, and a greater sense of space. New and existing elements are deliberately woven together, making their boundaries difficult to distinguish. The result is a timeless landscape where house and garden feel naturally connected—creating a cohesive setting for everyday family life.
