Once an all-paved rooftop centered around a swimming pool, this Tribeca penthouse terrace has been reimagined as an alpine-inspired garden retreat. The client sought to expand its use with outdoor kitchen, dining, and entertainment spaces—envisioned within a lush garden setting. HMWhite introduced an independent landscape superstructure that conceals rooftop bulkheads and mechanical equipment beneath a sculpted meadow and aspen grove, creating a verdant landscape context where none previously existed. The layout balances sun and shade: a lawn and terrace border the pool, while a vine-covered dining pergola, bar, and lounge offer relaxed, shaded gathering spaces. Seamlessly integrated, the landscape design supports a rich, flexible outdoor lifestyle—redefining what’s possible for high performance rooftop gardens in dense urban settings.
