Nestled between three commercial towers, this expansive podium terrace serves as a shared landscape for an emerging office community. HMWhite’s design for the Commons functions as a modern town green, offering flexible, outdoor workspaces that foster social connection and enhanced wellness. Undulating landforms filled with native plantings spatially organize a series of distinct gathering and workspace zones, striking a balance between privacy and openness. Shaded seating, sunlit clearings, and a green-roofed food pavilion support both everyday use and large-scale events. The design reinterprets the “tower-in-the- park” ideal, creating a restorative environment that is equitably visible and accessible. Integrated microclimate strategies—such as tree canopy buffers and landform planted buffers—improve seasonal
comfort while softening a domineering architectural context. JACX Commons repositions the rooftop podium building prototype as a utilitarian space: it has been redefined as a connective tissue necessity to foster the attributes of a vertical community.
