Wolfs Lane Park Design
Pelham, New York

August 2008

HM White has been retained by the Village of Pelham to plan and design an under-utilized linear downtown park as part of its downtown economic development strategy. As one of New York City’s early twentieth century planned garden cities, Pelham has a rich architectural and social history upon which HM White is building to create a new park identity and function. The 4-block long park is strategically located to serve downtown activities as it is adjacent to the town’s Metro North train station and borders its main commercial street. Currently, the park is a linear greensward comprised of a mature Oak and Maple woodland, outcropped filled rolling typography, some open lawns, and a small network of paths that invites pass-through use. HM White is working closely with the Village’s Board of Trustees to establish a visionary master plan. The intention is to redefine the park and include a series of useable public spaces that attract residents and inspires a variety of new public events and social gathering places, while aiding in the Village’s comprehensive approach to revitalizing its downtown.
