We are pleased to announce that Thomas Salaki has joined HM White Site Architects. Tom brings over five years of landscape architecture experience along with historic preservation planning, archival historic research and LEED certification. His concentration in historic preservation and urban planning at the University of Virginia School of Architecture influences his problem solving approach which frequently integrates relevant cultural and social forces. Prior to joining HM White, he conducted a study on the historic and cultural development of a network Watts Branch Creek neighborhoods in Northeast Washington DC which was used to establish a community history narrative that revealed historical significance of land use patterns, landscape evolution, architectural development and demographic growth. Tom’s research and study helped guide community revitalization and growth management planning and was ultimately used as the basis for the book, “Watts Going On: A Community Walking Tour.” Currently, Tom is leading the final design and documentation for a series of public spaces, streetscapes and roof terraces for two mix-use development parcels within the urban plan for the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Tom is also responsible for the final design and project management for a densely programmed and complicated 1.5 acre Long Island residence that is the result of merging three adjacent properties into one comprehensive landscape design. Tom’s horticultural science and design expertise is also being effectively applied to the landscape management and renovation for a variety of public and private spaces associated with 16 New York City luxury residential buildings’ courtyards, entrances and roof terraces.
